Ingredients

175gmsdates, chopped
1/2tspbicarbonate of soda
125gmsbutter
125gmssugar
125gmsself-raising flour
2eggs
2/3cupboiling water
300gmsbrown sugar(for sauce)
50gmsbutter(for sauce)
1cupcream(for sauce)
few dropsvanilla(for sauce)

Method

1.Sprinkle soda on dates & cover with boiling water.
2.Cream butter and sugar.
3.Add eggs and beat well.
4.Stir in flour.
5.Add dates & water.
6.Bake in oven @ 180C for about 30, 40 or 60 mins.
7.For the sauce, combine all ingredients in saucepan and stir till thick.
